Phnom Penh: The concrete section of Stung Meanchey canal in Sangkat Stung Meanchey II, Khan Meanchey, after collapsing more than a month ago, has been repaired by several percent, in order to improve the quality. In accordance with the technical standards, Mr. Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, instructed the construction team to build this road quickly with the implementation of technical standards.
Mr. Khuong Sreng’s introduction to the above construction team was made during the visit to the site to speed up the repair on October 31, 2024.
On that occasion, Mr. Khuong Sreng advised the team to take care of this work well by removing the rotten soil, pouring sand, grinding and compacting so that there will be no more problems. The problem is that the adjacent location of the canal also collapsed, so he also advised the team to continue to dig the soil to fill the concrete road to prevent further collapse of the concrete road. After pouring sand, grind and compact the concrete road as before to facilitate travel for people.
According to Mr. Sam Piseth, Director of the Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh, in accordance with the instructions of Mr. Khuong Sreng, the team rushed to carry out the work of repairing and rebuilding this concrete road carefully. Pour out the sand and grind it, even if the water flows down below, there is no problem because it digs out all the soil until the soil is hard.
It should be noted that the concrete road to Stung Meanchey canal gradually collapsed on September 23. After this incident, Mr. Khuong Sreng immediately traveled from Mondulkiri to Phnom Penh to find out. Check the situation when he visited and distributed gifts to the front line troops in Preah Vihear, Stung Treng province and visited the border post No. 65 La Pak (Cambodia-Vietnam) in O’Am village, Sre Khtom commune, Keo Seima district, Mondulkiri province.
