On 20 March 2024, the Singapore Embassy launched the Cambodia-Singapore Cooperation Centre (CSCC) microsite. Some 200 guests were present at the event, including Guest of Honour Kan Pharidh, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC).
Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng said: “the microsite is the first of its kind among the cooperation centres funded by Singapore in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. It will provide a repository of updated information for those interested in continuous learning and professional growth”. The Ambassador added: “the dedicated site will also serve as a one-stop centre for others who wish to know more about other technical cooperation programmes offered by the Singapore Government and how they can apply directly. It will complement first-hand testimonials from course participants featured on the Embassy Facebook.
Singapore has trained over 11,700 Cambodian government officials under the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI). Ambassador Teo said: “Singapore is a steadfast partner in Cambodia’s journey to nurture talent, upskill and foster leadership. We remain committed to support the Government’s priorities in capacity building as outlined in the Pentagonal Strategy”.
Three key milestones have defined the CSCC in as many years. Two years ago, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn and Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan officially opened the CSCC. Last year, to celebrate more than 20 years of Singapore’s technical assistance to Cambodia under the IAI, the Embassy organised its first-ever reception for alumni members and friends of the CSCC.
The CSCC, formerly known as the Cambodia-Singapore Training Centre, was established in 2002 following the launch of the IAI by the then Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong. In 2018, the training centre was upgraded to the CSCC to further enhance the delivery of capacity building programmes for Cambodian officials.
