In terms of sustainable management practices, the Lower Sesan 2 Hydropower Station in Cambodia and the Shweli River 1 Hydropower Station in Myanmar helped local employees to grow in an all-around way. The Minety Project in the UK focused on building a model project of China-UK energy cooperation. The Sahiwal Power Plant in Pakistan carried out different activities to strengthen the interaction between employees of the two countries and created a working and living atmosphere of friendship and mutual trust.
Last year, Lower Sesan 2 Hydropower Station in Cambodia not only carried out the fish release and fish monitoring and research activities, but also received recognition from the local government. Shweli River 1 Hydropower Station in Myanmar further improved the surrounding vegetation coverage. The environmental protection measures of Minety Battery Storage Project in the UK and Sahiwal Power Station in Pakistan have been praised as excellent cases in environmental protection.
Innovation never stops, Huaneng is always on the way. In 2021, China Huaneng Group continued to increase its investment in scientific and technological research and development. Overseas projects obtained a number of authorized patents, actively participated in international scientists forums and technological competitions, won individual and team awards in the area of international technological innovation, and strengthened communication and exchanges with professionals from different countries.
In 2021, Huaneng overseas projects continued to move forward hand in hand with the local people. The safe operation of overseas projects throughout the year ensured the stable supply of local power. At the same time, project companies had donated medical materials and daily necessities to local residents around the project and other social institutions to ensure the continuous improvement of local people’s daily lives. The Lower Sesan 2 Hydropower Station in Cambodia continued to provide grants to students and paid attention to the development of local education. The student dormitories aided by Shweli River 1 Hydropower Station in Myanmar had also been put into use and won an appreciation letter issued by the local education bureau. Sahiwal Power Plant in Pakistan won 4 social responsibility awards issued by Pakistan National Environment and Health Forum.
