On the occasion of the 158th Anniversary of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day under the theme “Together with the Cambodian Red Cross to Fight against COVID-19 and to build resilience of the society”, Huawei Technologies (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. donated USD 20,000 to the Cambodian Red Cross. The President of the Cambodian Red Cross, Samdech Kittipritthbindit Bun Rany HUNSEN, expressed the high appreciation with the Certificate of Appreciation to Huawei for the generous donation and contribution to benefit the most vulnerable people in Cambodia.
Huawei Cambodia donation to Cambodian Red Cross and Royal Government of Cambodia
As the current situation of COVID-19’s epidemic develops due to the escalation of the Feb 20’s community case, Huawei Cambodia has actively cooperated with the Royal Government of Cambodia to control the pandemic in various ways.
As a leading global ICT solution and smart devices provider that has been operated in Cambodia for more than 20 years, Huawei Cambodia has not only contributed to the supply of leading ICT infrastructure and smart devices to help achieve the vision of “Digital Cambodia”; but also actively contributed to social charity activities with the Royal Government of Cambodia to show a spirit of solidarity with the purpose to adhere to its corporate principle of “Being in Cambodia, for Cambodia”.
To respond to the escalation of Feb 20th community outbreak, Huawei Cambodia has spared no effort to join hand with the Royal Government of Cambodia by donating more than 15,0000 disposal face masks and hundreds of hand sanitizer for the various Ministries and General Department including the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, Phnom Penh Capital Hall, General Department of Taxation, as well as many other government institutions.
Huawei Cambodia Support “Together Narrowing Digital Gaps”
Apart from the donations in term of preventive materials, Huawei Cambodia also provided technological support in order to make all individuals daily life easier and smoother. Huawei, together with telecom operators, have managed to construct and expand many network sites in order to provide better connection to hospitals, quarantine hotels, and many communities.
In early February, Huawei provided the technical equipment including Mobile Routers, Laptops, and Smartphones to support charity project of the Department of International Studies, RUPP under the theme of “Together Narrowing Digital Gaps” for the continuity of teaching and learning virtually of more than 100 teachers and 2000 students in the rural high schools.
Huawei believes that ICT will certainly become an important means to improve Cambodia’s ability to prevent and control the epidemic, and keep all the necessary work during this critical situation. Huawei Cambodia will continue to do their utmost contribute to the Royal Government of Cambodia especially in term of expertise of using the latest technologies to work together with the government, customers and partners to combat the COVID-19 and build a fully connected Cambodia.
