The 2024 China Industrial Transfer and Development Matchmaking Activities (Yunnan) Held, Attracting More Than 1,000 Opportunity-Seeking Enterprises to Yunnan

On September 7-8, the 2024 China Industrial Transfer and Development Matchmaking Activities (Yunnan) were held in Kunming. Academicians and experts, and representatives of universities and industry associations and more than 1,300 key enterprises gathered here, seeking development opportunities.

With the theme of “Sharing New Advantages of Industrial Transfer and Building a New Highland for International Cooperation,” these activities hope to provide an important opportunity for Yunnan to vigorously advance the industrialization process and develop industries, with a focus on the industrial sector. Yunnan will strive to build a more attractive environment for industrial transfer, a regular and sustainable mechanism for accommodating industrial transfer, a more dynamic highland for opening up along the border, and an important platform for accommodating industrial transfer.

According to Wang Ning, Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yunnan Provincial Committee, by actively accommodating industrial transfer, Yunnan has seen its GDP reach a new high, resource advantages become increasingly prominent, and industrial support more solid. Facing unprecedented opening-up opportunities, the province is emerging as a hot land for investment and enterprise where dreams come true, with an ever-improving business environment. Yunnan will strengthen East-West cooperation, cooperation with ministries and commissions concerned, inter-provincial cooperation, and cooperation with the central government, do a good job in accommodating industrial transfer, and vigorously develop the resource-based economy, the park economy, and the port economy. Enterprises at home and abroad are welcome to capitalize on the development opportunities in Yunnan.

Jin Zhuanglong, Secretary of the Party Group and Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stressed the need to strengthen policy guidance, and support Yunnan to develop and expand new energy, new materials, biomedicine and other characteristic advantageous industries based on its functional positioning and industrial foundation, and develop new quality productive forces according to local conditions. It is necessary to improve the coordination mechanism, establish a sound regional business matchmaking and cooperation mechanism, support Yunnan to effectively meet the emerging needs of industrial development downstream of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and promote the effective cooperation and coordination among businesses, universities and research institutes and cross-regional cooperation. It is also necessary to improve the accommodating capacity, move faster to build a unified national market, support Yunnan in developing high-standard high-tech zones and economic development zones, reform relevant systems and mechanisms, and speed up infrastructure construction. It is important to promote opening up and cooperation, and support Yunnan to let border areas play a bigger role in opening up and in connecting the domestic and international markets. An international information channel connecting South Asia and Southeast Asia should be built, and a development dynamic of industrial parks along the border fostered, to create new drivers of opening up of border areas.

Yunnan is rich in natural resources and enjoys a superior geographical location, a solid industrial foundation, bursting market vitality, and a superior ecological environment. It is emerging as a key link between the domestic market and the emerging markets in South and Southeast Asia.

In his pitch, Wang Yubo, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and Governor of the Provincial People’s Government, said that with national policy support, the concerted effort of ministries and commissions, provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, and enterprises, and Yunnan’s unique advantages, Yunnan is poised to accommodate and make the best of industrial transfer; the momentum is building up and the prospects are exciting.

At the opening ceremony, many key industrial projects were signed. During the two-day event, four provincial- and ministerial-level matchmaking activities dedicated to biomedicine, solar energy, information industry and industrial parks at border areas, respectively, and nine provincial- and local-level matchmaking activities for equipment manufacturing and green aluminum industries.
