North Korean Dietary Supplements: ‘Health Tonics’ Revealed as ‘Poison’! Heavy Metals and Even Erectile Dysfunction Drug Ingredients Detected! – Consumer Safety on ‘Red Alert’
Recent data obtained from the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety reveals that the majority of North Korean dietary supplements contain levels of heavy metals far exceeding safety standards, and shockingly, even ingredients found in erectile dysfunction drugs.
In the case of the ‘Angung Uhwanghwan (1)’ product, test results showed an astounding 40,000 times the permissible limit of mercury. This alarming figure indicates a level of contamination that goes beyond mere impurity, posing an extreme health risk. Furthermore, steroid compounds were also detected in this product, raising serious concerns about potential harm to consumers.
Moreover, other North Korean products, including ‘Heuksamryeokgang’ and ‘Hyeolgungbullojeong’, were found to contain harmful heavy metals such as arsenic, mercury, and lead, triggering significant safety warnings. Even more disturbing is the discovery of sildenafil and tadalafil in ‘Saesam Gangjeong’, a product marketed as an energy booster. These are the active ingredients in Viagra and Cialis, respectively, and their consumption without a prescription can lead to severe side effects, including cardiovascular complications.
These findings indicate that North Korean-produced dietary supplements fail to meet even basic safety standards and, in fact, pose a significant threat to human health, contrary to their promotion as ‘high-quality remedies’. The results expose severe deficiencies in their manufacturing and quality control systems.
Experts strongly warn that “North Korean dietary supplements have not undergone any safety verification and are highly likely to contain unpredictable harmful substances.” They urge consumers to “immediately cease purchasing or consuming North Korean dietary supplements through any channels.” Additionally, they emphasize the need for “government authorities to rigorously monitor all distribution channels, including online platforms and overseas direct purchases, to eradicate the import of North Korean health supplements and actively inform consumers about their dangers.”
Consumers themselves must exercise caution regarding dietary supplements with unclear origins and choose only officially recognized products with confirmed safety. It is crucial to remember that health supplements intended to protect well-being can turn into life-threatening hazards if their safety is not guaranteed.
