[Beijing, China, October 17, 2023] The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications of Cambodia (MPTC) and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the cooperation in the digital transformation. The MOU was signed by Mr. Simon Lin, Senior Vice President of Huawei Group and President of Huawei Asia Pacific and H.E. Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications of Cambodia. The signing ceremony was presided over and witnessed by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Huawei has been following the guidance and working with MPTC to develop the ICT industry in Cambodia for more than 20 years, adhering to the company’s “In Cambodia, for Cambodia” guiding principle. This MOU signing period intends to deepen the collaboration between the two parties for the digital transformation in accordance with the implementation of the Cambodia Digital Government Policy 2022-2035 with a vision to establish the digital government and to enhance the quality of life for citizens.
According to the MOU, both parties will intensify their collaboration to acknowledge the significance of digital connectivity, to strengthen, promote, and develop cooperation
on the basis of mutual benefit in areas such as digital transformation; telecommunications;
digital infrastructure and connectivity, including data center, cloud computing, artificial
intelligence, and cybersecurity; digital capacity building; and the planning of smart city, in order to accomplish the goals of the memorandum and advance this industry in Cambodia.
During the ceremony, Mr. Simon Lin remarked: “On this momentous occasion of the MOU signing ceremony, Huawei would like to convey the gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications for the continued guidance and support to Huawei for these 24 years. It was a privilege for me to sign this MOU on behalf of Huawei with H.E. Minister to further our cooperation on Cambodia’s digital transformation. Huawei prioritizes cybersecurity in business procedures, aiming to build a global, end-to-end cybersecurity assurance system, as stated by our founder Ren Zhengfei.”
In addition, Huawei will commit to introduce the best practices globally and introduce the latest technologies for Cambodia through MPTC with the mutual goals of establishing a digital government, advancing digital infrastructure, and growing the ICT sector there as a whole.
