November 16th, 2022] The 45th International Collegiate Programing Contest (ICPC) World Finals, hosted by University of Asia Pacific, sponsored by leading global digital infrastructure provider Huawei, has concluded on Thursday, November 10, 2022, with MIT team winning the global championship, followed closely by Peking University.
The ICPC World Finals kicked off on November 6 in Dhaka, with over 400 contestants from 70 countries competing in teams of three representing their universities. The teams advanced through multiple rounds to reach the finals on November 10. The top 12 teams each received the gold, silver and bronze awards. The MIT team solved 11 of the 12 problems to clinch the world title, while Peking University team solved 10. The other gold medal teams are University of Tokyo and Seoul National University.
Dr.William Poucher, President of the ICPC Foundation, said that the students who have made it to the ICPC World Finals in Dhaka represented the top one percent of those who competed in the ICPC.

The Dhaka ICPC Challenge, powered by Huawei, was held on November 8 on the sidelines of the event, with the teams challenged to solve the problems on Task Scheduling and Data Assignment.

One of the world’s oldest and most prestigious programming contests, the ICPC, or International Collegiate Programming Contest, is an algorithmic programming contest for college students. The teams work to solve the real-world problems, fostering collaboration, creativity, innovation and the ability to perform under pressure. Through training and competition, the teams challenge each other to raise the bar on the possible.
This year the ICPC World Finals saw a gathering of over 1200 guests. The event was a part of the golden jubilee celebration of Bangladesh’s independence.
