SINGAPORE EMBASSY IN PHNOM PENH PRESS STATEMENT A MAGICAL CAMBODIAN CHRISTMAS CONCERT

On 1 December 2023, more than 30 artistes took to the stage to welcome Christmas at the Cambodia-Japan Cooperation Center.

Featuring performances by the SEA Brass Ensemble, Phnom Penh Chorus and Northbridge School Choir, the two-hour concert included highlights from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and all-time favourites such as Jingle Bell Rock, Deck the Halls, and Silent Night.

Guest-of-Honour Singapore Ambassador Teo Lay Cheng said: “Christmas transcends borders and reminds us of our shared humanity. It is a time when friends and families come together to celebrate the universal language of love, joy, hope, generosity, and togetherness, whether by marvelling stunning lights displays, enjoying festive feasts or giving gifts.” She added: “The Embassy is delighted to support the concert, performed by an incredibly talented international cast. We believe in the power of the arts to bring people together. The diverse repertoire has captivated hearts and transported the audience on a magical journey of the holiday season.”

Tenor Shaun Lee, a Singaporean, said: “We are thankful for the unwavering support of the Singapore Embassy for our concert, and for helping us to bring the Christmas message of hope and unity to all here in Phnom Penh”.

Themed “Noel, A Cambodian Christmas Concert”, the event was led by Maestro Ross Clarke. It also featured singers Shaun Lee, Martin Ng and Sylvie Lin and pianists Angie Ang and April Wang.
