On the afternoon of Thursday, 14th September 2023 , Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd delegation led by Dr. Liang Hua, Chairman of the Board of Directors along with Mr. Sovann Yao, CEO of Huawei Cambodia and team for courtesy call and discussion in Beijing, the capital of the People’s Republic of China.
Dr. Liang Hua, Chairman of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd, thanked Samdech Thipadei for allowing him and the company delegation to pay a courtesy call and discuss the work, and congratulated Samdech Thipadei, who was elected as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia for the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly. Dr. Liang further expressed his thanks to Samdech Thipadei as well as the Royal Government of Cambodia, for always paying attention and supporting Huawei since its first operation in Cambodia. Dr. Liang also reported on the achievements of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd in cooperation with ministries and partners in Cambodia over the past 25 years contributing to the development of digital infrastructure and telecommunications.
In response, Samdech Thipadei extended a warm welcome to Dr. Liang Hua and the company delegation and thanked Huawei for cooperating with relevant ministries and institutions to help build and develop telecommunications infrastructure and have helped develop the telecommunications sector in Cambodia for more than two decades. He also hopes that Huawei will continue to import new and advanced technology from China to enhance ICT field in Cambodia. He also stressed that the Royal Government of Cambodia maintains the policy of good relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China and will continue to support, facilitate and encourage more investment in Cambodia. He also stressed the importance of peace and political stability in Cambodia, which is the foundation of increasing investor confidence in Cambodia.
He added that the development of digital infrastructure is very important, which requires the government and the private sector to work together to further develop this sector and also welcomed Huawei for investment in new technologies and investment in digital infrastructure development. In addition, Samdech Thipadei also encouraged Huawei to consider Dr. Liang agreed to Samdech Thipadei on the importance ICT infrastructure has become. There’s a saying goes “When there’s road, there’s hope”, nowadays, digital road is as important as physical road. Huawei is committed and ready to join hand with Cambodia to develop in this aspect.
Samdech Thipadei and Dr. Liang also discussed the training of human resources in digital skills by Huawei expressed interest in contributing to the training of ICT skill starting from the primary level up to university level. In the past, Huawei Cambodia has also partnered with a number of universities in Cambodia on ICT talent training, giving 3,000 chances per year to young talent to get ICT training from Huawei and partners through different program.
Before concluding, Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed the welcome and support of the Royal Government for the business and investment of companies in Cambodia in accordance with the socio-economic needs of Cambodia and the policies of the Royal Government. Last but not least, Dr. Liang wished Samdech hipadei success in his official visit to the People’s Republic of China and safe return back to the home country.
