Minister of Interior instructs sub-national authorities to further cooperate in promoting registration of persons with disabilities

Phnom Penh: Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha, Minister of Interior, instructed the sub-national authorities to further promote the registration of people with disabilities as family members in the equity card, which has not yet been registered in the “National Social Assistance Program in the Family Package”.

According to a letter from the Ministry of Interior to the Capital-Provincial Governor issued on October 30, 2024, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha said that the National Social Assistance Program in the Family Package was officially launched in April 2024. As of September 12, 2024, a total of 23,762 people with disabilities have registered for the program, which compares with the actual data for persons with disabilities who are members of the Equitable Family. The number is still low.

Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha emphasized, “Therefore, the Ministry of Interior requests the Capital and Provincial Governors to instruct the Commune / Sangkat Administration to cooperate with the National Social Assistance Fund, which will provide a list of persons with disabilities through the National Capital Assistance Fund branch to the Commune Administration. “The district to review and update the data in the equity card with members with disabilities in the national social assistance program in the family package for everyone to avoid losing the benefits of the beneficiaries of this program.”
